Scrimshaw Coffee

Scrimshaw Coffee is a small, community focused specialty coffee shop on El Cajon Boulevard in the El Cerrito neighborhood, near San Diego State University. It serves coffee the team roasts itself under the name Field Trip Coffee, a project that began in June 2020 as a way through the pandemic and is still roasted, bagged and shipped by the same hands that make the drinks in the shop.

The room works as an all day cafe, with food made from local ingredients and goods from elsewhere in the country, natural wine and craft beer alongside the coffee, and a wine club and online store for bottles and bags. A cruise thru window handles quick orders, and the doors are open from seven in the morning until six in the evening every day.
