Schot Coffee Roasters

John Schot spent years working as a coffee trader, visiting origin farms and meeting producers, before deciding to start his own roastery in 2010 after struggling to find genuinely good coffee close to home. The roastery and bar now sits inside the Diepeveen building, a Cubist expressionist landmark built in 1929 that spent decades as a hardware warehouse, a tannery, and even a youth disco before a 2022 redevelopment turned it into a mixed residential and creative workspace with a bookstore, gallery, and wood workshop alongside the roastery.

Two espresso options run daily alongside batch brew and hand brewed filter, with a range that stretches from approachable classics to exclusive competition lots. The industrial, raw look of the original building has been kept largely intact, giving the space a genuine working roastery feel rather than a styled cafe built to look like one.
