Mostro

Two guests at the red framed serving window of Mostro in Rome, one standing and one on a stool, with a glass of wine and a beer on the sill in warm evening light

Mostro took over the old kiosk across from the Pyramid of Cestius in spring 2024, giving a neighborhood landmark a second life as an all day bar. The morning belongs to coffee: a fixed selection from Rome's Aliena micro roastery, joined by guest roasters through the seasons, served as espresso, V60, batch brew or cold brew.

There are no croissants here, just generous Venetian style tramezzini, and as the day turns the same little window shifts to natural wine, craft beer and cocktails. Most of the seating is outdoors, with trams rolling past, a characterful spot to grab a coffee standing up or to settle in for the evening.
