Rio Coffee House

The family behind Rio Coffee House started in coffee in 2012 with the Manjericao Bistro in Ipanema, opened As Cafe in 2014, and began roasting in 2017 after struggling to find quality Brazilian coffees sourced across multiple regions and buying their first roaster to solve the problem themselves. The current Cosme Velho space, combining a cafe, roastery and cupping lab, came together around 2022.

Team members have competed in national barista and roasting championships and gone on to serve as competition judges, and the shop runs a professional roasting course several times a year for anyone who wants to learn the craft rather than just drink the results.
