Coffee Five

Emerson and Rafaela Nascimento opened Coffee Five inside the Sul America building in Centro, with Emerson, a Brazilian Barista Champion and multiple award winner, running the coffee program under the couple's own roasting brand, Five Roasters. In February 2026 Coffee Five entered The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops at number 92 globally and 20th in South America, the first time a Rio de Janeiro shop had made the list.

Beyond the daily bar, the couple runs Coffee Five Escola, teaching barista, latte art and brewing courses, and a second location has since opened in Barra da Tijuca. A resident cat and a dog friendly welcome round out the small Centro counter.
