Caffè La Rocca

Inside Caffè La Rocca in Correggio, the name in script lettering on a terracotta wall above a marble topped bar with a chrome espresso machine, hanging filament bulbs and a glass case full of croissants

Caffè La Rocca is a long standing bar on Corso Mazzini, at the start of the arcades in the old centre of Correggio, a short walk from the church of San Francesco. It opens very early and stays open through the afternoon, so it works as the town's morning stop as much as a place to sit for a coffee, with tables outside under the portico.

The bar carries the name of the La Rocca roasting company, which has its roastery and a bean shop a few minutes away on Via Borgo Vecchio, so the coffee here comes from the town's own roaster. It is a classic Italian counter, quick and friendly, where locals stop for an espresso or a cappuccino with a pastry, and where visitors walking the arcades find an easy place to start the day.
