Coffee Space

Founder Gao Zhengui opened Coffee Space in 2010 at 26 Longshan Road, right where Daxue Road turns into the Longjiang Road arts quarter, back when the area held only a handful of cafes rather than the dozens that line it today. The shop was among the first on the street to roast its own green beans in house, and the interior still runs on full height windows and an industrial finish, with a wall of antique European coffee equipment collected across the twentieth century on display.

The bar built its name on fresh roasted, hand poured coffee rather than a food menu, and Gao went on to found a coffee training school in 2013 to pass on the roasting and brewing knowledge behind the shop. More than a decade later Coffee Space remains one of the anchor addresses on a street now known across the city as its coffee corridor.
