Format Coffee

Format is the espresso bar side of Mazelab, the Prague micro roastery it calls its bigger brother, founded by Jackie Tran and Thu after Tran's earlier career as a designer in San Francisco and a stint doing landscape photography in Iceland. Tran placed sixth at the 2024 World Brewers Cup Championship and later designed his own pour over dripper, the Solo, which the bar now brews on.

What looks like a quick stop in Holešovice turns into something closer to a living room, houseplants everywhere, chess boards and card games out for anyone who wants them, twinkly lights strung through the room. The menu runs to an ube latte and a hojicha latte alongside homemade cakes, toasts, and porridge. Beans come from Mazelab, sold both by the cup and in retail bags.
