Sterling Coffee Roasters

Sterling Coffee Roasters started in 2010 as a street cart roasting beans in front of a Northwest Portland grocery, grew into a 200 square foot shop on Northwest 21st Avenue in 2012, and moved a few blocks to this much larger room in 2017. The company still roasts in small batches and keeps its focus on light and medium roasts, with a rotating shelf of single origins and a few blends.
The house blend, Blendo Stupendo, is built for milk drinks and tastes of cocoa and caramel, while recent single origins have included a Peru Cerro Blanco with a piña colada sweetness and a Kenya Kirinyaga AA with grapefruit and plum notes. Whole beans are sold by the bag and shipped around the country. The cafe opens at half past six on weekday mornings and at half past seven on weekends, and closes at five every day.
