The Great North Alberta

The Great North's Alberta Street shop is its coffee shop and roastery, where a vintage drum roaster stands beside wooden shelves of boxed coffee and the company roasts fresh to order from Sunday through Wednesday. The Great North began in 2016 in St. Johns, on the belief that the people of North Portland deserved a coffee shop that represented them, and it has since grown beyond that tiny nook into more neighborhoods.

The team makes its syrups, sauces, chai and oat milk in house, and each cafe offers breakfast items, bagels and pastries, with gluten free and plant based choices. The current coffee shelf includes a washed Mexico Angostura Decaf, the natural Familia Siles from Nicaragua and the Deep Waters and Kickstep blends. The cafe opens at six on weekday mornings and at seven on weekends, and it closes at six every evening.
