Extracto Coffeehouse

Christopher Brady, a barista since the late 1980s, opened Extracto on Northeast Killingsworth Street and has been roasting there for around 15 years as of the mid 2020s. The roaster itself sits in plain view near the entrance, a 1951 cast iron UG22 Probat that head roaster Neal Mead and Brady still use to work through the shop's single origin lineup.

The Concordia neighborhood cafe keeps a relaxed, hip feel with big windows and a shaded outdoor patio where dogs are welcome, plus free wifi and outlets that make it a steady laptop stop through the morning. Extracto is open daily from 7 until 2, with a second cafe on Northeast Prescott Street rounding out the small local roasting operation.
