Either/Or

Either/Or takes its name from the 1997 Elliott Smith album and has anchored a corner of North Williams Avenue in the Boise neighborhood since its original Sellwood cafe closed during the pandemic. Owner Ro Tam runs it as a hybrid space, a multi roaster coffee bar by day that turns into a wine and cocktail bar with dinner service Thursday through Saturday evenings.

The daytime side sticks to coffee fundamentals, pulling espresso from a rotating list of outside roasters and building seasonal housemade sodas alongside it. The shop keeps the same easy, unfussy character its Sellwood original had, just transplanted to a busier stretch of inner North Portland.
