Deadstock Coffee

Ian Williams worked his way up from janitor to shoe designer at Nike before opening Deadstock Coffee in Portland's Old Town district in February 2016, later adding roasting to keep the business going through a slow winter. The shop treats coffee and sneaker culture as one thing rather than two, with rotating art installations and vintage Nikes displayed like museum pieces, though Williams stops short of actually selling shoes out of respect for the sneaker stores nearby.

After nearly a decade in its original Old Town space, Deadstock closed that location at the end of 2025 and reopened a block away in early 2026 inside the lobby of the Hoxton hotel. The menu keeps its playful names, including the Lebronald Palmer and a lavender mocha called the Luther Vandross, roasted medium to dark under the shop's snob free motto, coffee should be dope.
