Wonderift Coffee

The counter at Wonderift Coffee with a black and white checkerboard front, a yellow espresso machine, a pastry case, a stainless steel back wall under a green edged ceiling panel and a glass fronted drinks fridge

Wonderift began with a honeymoon on Kauai in 2017, when Lauren Topor and Kyle Reichert spent their days Jeeping, swimming and hunting for roadside coffee shacks, then decided to build a Phoenix version close to the trails they love. The result is an espresso bar designed for South Mountain, popular with hikers, riders and climbers before or after a morning on the mountain.

The counter serves Arizona roasted coffee, a short list of teas, house syrups and house bakes, with locally made bagels and burritos for something more filling. Wonderift partners with Provision Coffee for beans, and it opens at six every morning, which suits an early start on the trail, and closes at one in the afternoon.
