Ox Coffee

The corner bar at Ox Coffee with a herringbone reclaimed wood front, a chalkboard menu, a white espresso machine and two baristas at work

Ox Coffee opened in October 2013 on South 3rd Street in Queen Village, started by two old friends, Will Gross and Max Cudworth, who had met working at Joe in New York. Will had also trained baristas there and roasted for Stumptown in Brooklyn, and the pair left Brooklyn after Hurricane Sandy for a fresh start in his family's home city.

The shop is a compact, warm room meant to feel like a second home for neighbors and visitors. Coffee is roasted at Ox's own roastery in Kensington using sustainable and organic practices, and the menu draws on local producers, including organic dairy from Maplehofe Dairy through Lancaster Farm Fresh and chocolate from Wilbur. The shop also features local artists and musicians and runs classes for people who want to learn more.
