Matamata Coffee Bar

Three friends opened Matamata in 2014 and named it after the New Zealand town where two of them were married, and for a decade it has been one of the dependable rooms of the 2nd, a few streets from Rue Montorgueil: specialty espresso and filter, pastries, avocado toast and sandwiches through lunch, and a tolerance for laptops that makes it one of the few serious coffee bars in central Paris you can actually work from.
New owners took over in November 2022 and kept the name and the format. Open every day, from eight on weekdays.
