Clove

The Clove storefront on Rue Chappe, grey blue paneling and tiled pilasters with the CLOVE wordmark etched on the window and customers seated on the bench inside

Florent Marcault and Ella McElroy opened Clove in 2021 on Rue Chappe, the steep street that runs up toward the funicular, and it has become the coffee stop for anyone doing Sacré-Cœur in the morning. The coffee leans light and comes from a rotating set of European roasters, Dak in Amsterdam, The Picky Chemist in Belgium and Kawa, now Tanat, among them, brewed as espresso and filter.

The cups are the other reason people mention it. The ceramics on the counter, cups and vases, are made by one of the owners, and the room has the warm, personal feel of a place run by the people who built it. Open nine to four, closed Wednesdays.
