Kofeiinikomppania

Kofeiinikomppania fills a nineteenth century granary at Oulu's market square, one of the low wooden storehouses built along the riverside for goods coming off the boats. Shelves run floor to ceiling with glass jars of loose tea, tins, an old hand crank grinder and a small brass scale, and the low door frame means most visitors duck on the way in.

Coffee comes from a changing lineup of small Finnish roasters, among them Caffi Paahtimo, Mokkamestarit and Makea Coffee, sold by the bag alongside more than a hundred loose teas weighed out to order, with Italian espresso available to drink on the spot. The shop has run this way for about two decades and closes on Sundays.
