Ue. Coffee

Ue. opened in Shinmachi in November 2024 under proprietor Shinya Ueda, who spent seven years behind the bar at Embankment Coffee before going out on his own. Designer Transform Inc built the room around a terrazzo counter and pale green tiles, keeping the footprint small enough that it feels closer to a private tasting room than a cafe, with custom cups from ceramicist Yoshiaki Imamura on open shelves.

The menu centers on single origin beans in both light and dark roast espresso, plus homemade dorayaki as the shop's one steady food item. Once the coffee service winds down for the day the counter shifts into a small batch gin and natural wine list, a second act that keeps the same small crowd of regulars coming back after dark.
