Bynx

James Reid opened Bynx in December 2020 inside a former downtown storefront, building a family run cafe around his own crates of vinyl and his father John's collection of rare books and ephemera. A recording studio sits in the back of the space, and the shop doubles as a small venue for live sets and events after regular hours.
Coffee has run through a rotating cast of Central Florida and beyond roasters, early on that meant Water Avenue's El Toro blend alongside Blue Creek and Boxcar plus nitro cold brew from Winter Garden's Otus Coffee Co, with Maitland's KOS Coffee Roasters also part of the mix more recently. It comes out as lattes, cortados, and a coquito sobrio that draws on Reid's Puerto Rican family recipes, sold with bags of the current roast at the register while records and first editions compete for the same counter space.
