Kaffeværket

Mother and son Mette Vogn Hviid and Christian Hviid started Kaffeværket about six years ago as a small window service spot on Tolderlundsvej, later moving into the former Thomas B. Thrige power plant site before relocating again in May 2026 to their current home, a nearly 350 year old building called Laurids Ulfeldts Gård. The family roasts and hand selects its own beans, with a stated focus on taste, quality, and character over any single house style.
The Overgade room keeps its Renaissance timber framing exposed, original to a building that predates the coffee inside it by centuries. Espresso, cortado, latte, and filter all get equal attention at the counter, and the shop placed second for Best Coffee Bar at Smagprisen 2025, just ahead of Analog across town.
