Stonefruit Espresso + Kitchen

Laure Sorensen moved from Manhattan to Bed Stuy to open the cafe she had long wanted, combining a working coffee bar with a plant and flower shop inside the same room, an unusual pairing for the neighborhood. The dual concept means the counter smells as much of fresh stems as of espresso, and the bright, calm room is filled with plants.

The coffee comes from Counter Culture, with Bellocq tea alongside it, and a genuine food program runs from breakfast through lunch, the kind of menu that keeps regulars through the afternoon rather than just a quick morning stop. Both indoor and outdoor seating extend the small Bedford Avenue room, and dogs are welcome throughout.
