Devoción

Devoción was founded in 2006 in Bogotá by Colombian born Steven Sutton, who was running a coffee distribution business in Miami when he noticed how little of his country's coffee was treated as high end despite the quality on offer. He built a direct trade model that skips middlemen entirely, hand selecting farm partners and personally controlling both the dry milling and export of every batch that carries the name. Beans are grown and dry milled at the company's own Bogotá facility, then flown to Brooklyn and roasted fresh within days of harvest rather than weeks or months later, the core of what sets the brand apart.

This Flatiron location occupies a landmarked building that was once an artist's studio, restored to keep its original exposed brick, wood floors, and distressed stucco walls intact. A large skylight floods the coffee bar with light, living greenery climbs the walls in a nod to the jungles of Colombia, and a converted chandelier hangs as the room's sculptural centerpiece, quieter and less trafficked than the brand's original Williamsburg flagship.
