Bar Pisellino

Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, the chefs behind Via Carota, I Sodi and Buvette, opened Bar Pisellino directly across the street from Via Carota, recreating a classic Italian standing espresso bar in the middle of the West Village. Espresso and cappuccino run the counter by day, and the room turns to aperitivi and vermouth by night, with house made bomboloni and panini bridging both.
The corner has become one of the most photographed espresso counters in the neighborhood, regularly named among the West Village's essential coffee stops. Streetside seating on the busy Grove Street corner keeps the room feeling like a genuine Italian piazza bar rather than a recreation of one.
