8th & Roast

The painted brick storefront of 8th & Roast with its teal windows and door

This 8th Avenue South cafe is the original flagship of 8th & Roast, roasting in Nashville since 2009. Childhood friends Ed Reed, Sam Reed and Q Juan Taylor bought the company in 2016 and rebuilt it around sustainability, fair pay to producers and small batch roasting, Taylor bringing a decade of running the Nashville restaurant Sinema before moving into coffee.

The brand has since grown to six Nashville locations plus two airport outposts and more than 350 wholesale accounts, and in 2024 it acquired Good Citizen Coffee Co. This original address keeps the roaster visible up front, a design language the newer locations have carried forward.
