Backstory Coffee West Side

Backstory Coffee Roasters began in 2014 as Bootstrap and took its current name in 2022. The West Side bar on Wabasha Street South opened in June 2019 and shares a building with the roastery, a former post office from 1956, so the coffee in your cup is roasted on a twenty kilo Mill City Roasters machine a few steps away. The mid century shell still has a cupping room and a large wooded yard at the side.

Behind the counter you get espresso drinks, batch brew, pour overs, cold brew and seasonal specials, with pastries to go with them. There is seating inside, a spacious patio outside and online ordering ahead. The bar opens at seven every morning and closes at three, except on Saturday when it stays open until four.
