Ditta Artigianale

The curved terrazzo counter and mosaic floor inside Ditta Artigianale's Corso Magenta bar in Milan

Ditta Artigianale was founded in Florence in 2013 by Francesco Sanapo, an Italian barista champion and coffee taster, together with Patrick Hoffer, growing into one of Italy's most recognized specialty coffee roasters across several Florence addresses before finally crossing into Milan. The Corso Magenta bar opened in January 2025 as the brand's first Milan location, a few steps from Cadorna station and the Castello Sforzesco, set inside a Liberty style palazzo whose wrought iron fixtures and floral plasterwork the design leaned into rather than covered over. Sanapo has described the project as an attempt to bring back the 1950s idea of a cafe as a genuine gathering place, not just a counter to drink and go.

The coffee is roasted to order at the Florence roastery rather than held pre roasted on a shelf, and the Milan bar pours it through V60 and Aeropress alongside the house espresso and a signature Coffeemisù, an espresso drink built to riff on tiramisu. Breakfast pastries and a seasonal international lunch menu round out the day. Ditta Artigianale's coffee program was named Best Roaster in Italy for 2026 and earned the top Tre Chicchi and Tre Tazzine score in Gambero Rosso's 2025 guide. A second Milan bar has since opened at Piazza Gae Aulenti, but Corso Magenta remains the brand's original foothold in the city, open seven days a week into the evening.
