Bugan Coffee Lab

Bugan Coffee Lab opened its third location on Via Vigevano in July 2025, bringing a Bergamo born specialty coffee project into the Navigli district near Porta Genova. Siblings Maurizio and Sonia Valli started the format in 2014, building what they call Italy's first coffee laboratory around a micro roastery, a cupping room, and a training academy rather than a conventional bar. The Milan room keeps that same wabi sabi sensibility, a carbonized wood counter built with the shou sugi ban technique connecting two spaces across roughly 120 square meters, with bench seating chosen specifically so strangers end up sharing a table.
All the beans still come from Bergamo, where roaster Roberto Breno cups and roasts daily rather than outsourcing the work, and the Milan counter pours everything from approachable entry level lots to competition scored micro lots through an open Modbar setup that keeps the barista working in view of the room. A rotating single origin joins the lineup every week, and bagged coffee, subscriptions, and a themed tasting box all sell to take home. The shop keeps identical hours all week, open from 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening, seven days a week.
