La Colada Gourmet

Judith Gonzalez and Ernesto Borges, a Cuban couple who emigrated to Miami around 2013, opened La Colada Gourmet in 2016 on Calle Ocho, branding it the House of Cuban Coffee. Ernesto had run cigar industry ventures across Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic before the pair pivoted into coffee, and the shop roasts its own beans on premises in a large roaster visible from the counter.

More than twenty drink recipes riff on the traditional colada here, a Tres Leches latte and matcha Cuban blends among them, alongside coffee cocktails that push past the standard cortadito. Retail bags, cafeteras, local art and cigars round out a shop that reads as much a cultural landmark on Calle Ocho as a coffee counter.
