Café Avellaneda
Café Avellaneda is the small Coyoacán bar of Carlos de la Torre and Yarismeth Barrientos, the award winning couple behind the Café con Jiribilla roastery, which sits just across the street. Named for a character in Mario Benedetti's novel La tregua, it seats only a handful, with five bar stools, two small tables and a bench by the door, so every cup gets the barista's full attention.
The beans come from Café con Jiribilla, which buys only from Mexican farms, roasts in small batches and has won national and international barista, brewing and cupping titles. The bar serves its coffee to drink and to take home, and its drinks list adds creative coffee recipes to the classics.
