Almanegra Café Narvarte

A bar machine with a sculpted copper trim and stacks of glass and black cups on top, beside towers of clear and paper takeaway cups in warm window light

Almanegra was among the first to bring specialty coffee to Narvarte, and this compact flagship on Avenida Universidad is where the project began before growing into a small family of cafés across the city. The room is small by design, with baristas who enjoy explaining what is in each bean and a few spots to sit outside.

The coffee is roasted by Tostadora de Cafés Extraordinarios, with a range that covers Mexican origins such as Veracruz, Chiapas, Oaxaca and Guerrero alongside lots from Africa, Asia and Colombia. The focus is the flavour of the coffee itself, brewed by hand with methods like Chemex or served as a cold brew, rather than hidden under syrups.
