Patricia Coffee Brewers

A private tasting room at Patricia with leather aprons hanging on the wall, sage green cabinetry, and a bronze sculpture on a dark island counter

Bowen Holden and Pip Heath opened Patricia in 2011 in a narrow laneway space tucked behind Little Bourke Street, naming the cafe for their grandmothers, both women named Patricia. There is nowhere to sit, just a standing room counter and a rotating cabinet of pastries from bakeries like Wild Life and Mörk, so the coffee itself carries the whole visit.

The pair started roasting their own beans in 2016, after years of showcasing rotating guest roasters including Seven Seeds, Market Lane and Small Batch, a format that was unusual in Melbourne at the time. Today the beans come from a dedicated roastery in Coburg North running on a Loring S15 Falcon, and a second Patricia opened on Lonsdale Street in 2026.
