Good Measure

The pale green espresso machine behind the counter at Good Measure with a trailing plant, white cups and a chalkboard menu on the dark timber wall

Good Measure is a Lygon Street cafe by day and a cocktail bar by night, set in a timber clad room of exposed beams, plants and vintage furniture, with a large bird mural on the back wall and a courtyard where dogs are welcome. The coffee is made with Code Black beans, and the espresso machine keeps running into the evening, so a flat white is possible long after most cafes have closed.

Daytime service is built around coffee, sandwiches and pastries, and from late afternoon the room turns over to a short cocktail list, wine and beer with vinyl on the turntable. The doors open from eight every morning, closing at eleven from Sunday to Thursday and at one in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays, so it works for an evening coffee as well as a morning one.
