Hija Mía Coffee Roasters

Hija Mía began with a New Zealander's craving for a proper flat white and a leap of faith, a shipping container packed with a La Marzocco machine and a coffee roaster sent halfway around the world to Medellín. The result is a compact cafe in Barrio Manila with peacock blue velvet seating, teal porcelain cups and a small roaster working inside the room, so the smell of fresh coffee is part of the welcome.

The roasting is small batch by design, with fresh lots roasted for each order so the coffee is drunk at its best. Working alongside Dutch exporting friends, the team gets to buy small Colombian microlots before they leave the country, and the barista team pours them as flat whites, filter coffee and espresso that keep Manila regulars returning.
