Uggla Kaffebar

Ajje Ljungberg, a co founder of the Swedish culture magazine Nöjesguiden, opened Uggla on a well preserved 1920s square in the S:t Knut district in May 2014, later passing ownership to Imran Khan, a barista who had previously worked at Malmö's own Noir. Rather than a single house roast, Uggla rotates beans among respected Swedish micro roasters, Coffee Collective, Drop Coffee, Koppi, Per Nordby, and Solde among them.

The name and owl motif started as a practical fix, a figure placed on the corner to scare off pigeons, and grew into an ongoing decor tradition as regulars began donating owl figurines of their own over the years. The room splits into several distinct zones, bar seating, an outdoor corner facing the square, and a lesser known basement floor, and White Guide named it a rising star in its 2015 cafe rankings.
