Gosto Café

The bright interior of Gosto Café with large potted plants in front of an arched window, a long wooden counter along the wall and round wall lights

Gosto is a bright, minimal room on Calle del León in Las Letras, designed with Scandinavian restraint: oak furniture, earth coloured walls and large windows that flood it with light. It was opened by Marcelo Bergamo, an architect from Brazil with a real love of coffee culture, and the bar reflects it. The coffee is roasted by Madrid specialty roaster Hola Coffee, with Brazilian origins in the mix, and served for people who care how their cup tastes.

Small tables fill the room, including a corner where people settle in with a laptop, and dogs are welcome. The entrance and seating are wheelchair accessible. Chai from a Madrid maker sits alongside the coffee, plant based milks are on offer, and the pastries come from local bakeries La Barra Dulce and Reposted. There is a second Gosto in Malasaña on Calle de la Palma, but this Las Letras shop is the one to visit first.
