Co founders Bérénice Talarmin and Andrea Rossignol named MAGMA for coffee's own transformation, the bean moving through processes and emerging in final form the same way lava reshapes itself, and cite New York's Stumptown as a style touchstone. The project opened in the seventh arrondissement in June 2023 on a floor of shattered toasted mosaic tile.

A new guest roaster rotates in every month, from dependable names like People Possession and Nomad to funkier picks like Tisserie and KB Coffee Roasters, most discovered through Instagram before earning a spot in the lineup. Coffee runs through a La Marzocco machine or V60, alongside a Magmola drink built from chocolate, pepper, vanilla, and cinnamon for anyone who wants something further from the espresso norm.
