Woodcat Coffee

Saadat and Janine Awan opened Woodcat in 2014, building the room, in their own words, with little money, lots of heart and their own hands. The name comes from a 2010 road trip through Western Europe, where they became attached to the song Woodcat by the band Tunng. Woodcat is also an old English nickname for a hare, which is why the logo is a rabbit.

Woodcat began roasting its own coffee in 2020, the same year the couple took over Dinosaur Coffee, now a sister shop further along Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. Since then they have traveled to coffee origin regions to build relationships with growers, and they describe the shops as places that bring people together over the daily ritual and mutual appreciation of good coffee, with baristas serving drinks and pastries.
