Woodcat Coffee

Saadat and Janine Awan opened Woodcat in 2014, building the room, in their own words, with little money, lots of heart and their own hands. The pair take pride in being woman and POC owned, and the shop's name comes from a 2010 European road trip where they heard the song Woodcat by the band Tunng, a personal reference rather than a coffee one.

Woodcat began roasting its own coffee in 2020, deepening a community focused philosophy the founders describe as bringing people together through the daily ritual and mutual appreciation of good coffee, including direct trade origin trips. A sister shop, Dinosaur Coffee, has since opened in Silver Lake, this original Sunset Boulevard room remaining the founding location.
