Loquat Coffee Cypress Park

The Loquat cafe counter in Cypress Park with a black bar, bright yellow cabinetry and an exposed concrete ceiling

Loquat's Cypress Park cafe fills a corner space that once housed an ice cream company, and the vintage sign still hangs on the painted brick outside. Inside, a black counter meets bright yellow cabinetry under an exposed concrete ceiling, a color chosen to express the warmth of Los Angeles. Small batches are roasted on site, and the bar pours the Quat house blend, single origin espressos, batch brew and manual pour over.

The team sends its green coffee buyers to origin every harvest season, which gives it early access to hundreds of samples before it commits to limited lots from farms such as Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama and Gesha Village in Ethiopia. A week after each roast the team cups the production samples together. Retail runs from an everyday espresso blend to rare Gesha lots, and the cafe opens daily from seven to five.
