WatchHouse Maltby Street

This is where WatchHouse roasts its coffee, in a railway arch on Maltby Street in Bermondsey. The roaster is a rebuilt 1959 Probat UG22 set behind a glass wall, so you can watch the beans turn while you wait for your cup. The arch also serves as the group's training centre, which gives the brew bar a different feel from the compact original on Bermondsey Street.
Espresso and filter are made from the coffee roasted on site, with single origins that change through the year, so the beans are never far from the machine that roasted them. Weekdays run from half past seven to half past four, and weekends from eight to half past five, which makes it a good place to see how the whole WatchHouse operation fits together.
