Urban Botanica

The Urban Botanica cafe with shelves of houseplants, a pink wall of dried flowers, globe lamps and an espresso machine on a concrete counter

Urban Botanica opened in Kennington in 2018 as a coffee shop and houseplant shop in one. Owner operator Stephen spent four years at Horsham Coffee Roaster before opening, and the coffee is a short list of single origins from that roastery, from producers it has worked with for years, with a strong focus on Rwandan lots. The shop also supports the One Tree Planted reforestation project.

The room is long and narrow with plant lined shelves, a cosy nook behind a dividing wall and a small walled garden at the back, plus a bench out front. Houseplants are on sale, including rarer varieties, and the team will help choose one. Cleaver Square is a short stroll away, and the river is not much further for anyone taking a flat white to go.
