Saint Nine Coffee

Saint Nine Coffee is owner Laith Toukan's small bar on Southwark Street, named for the nine bars of pressure behind a good espresso and for 9 Bars, the coffee shop he ran in Toronto on St Clair Avenue. It opened in the summer of 2020, closed through the winter lockdowns and reopened in April 2021, with an interior designed by OAOA Architecture.
Inside there are only eight seats, perched at the windows, a curved matte black counter and a mural by Gabe Sapienza, a friend of Laith, printed on fabric and wrapped over the back wall and ceiling. It is a multi roaster bar, with Assembly, Round Hill, North Star and Bailies among the roasters that have passed through, and it keeps weekday hours a short walk from Tate Modern.
