Saint Espresso Here East

Diners sitting at outdoor tables in the sunshine in front of the glass fronted Saint Espresso cafe at Here East, with a tree and an orange frame to the left and a customer at the counter inside

Saint Espresso's flagship coffee bar sits on the Here East campus in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a stone's throw from the canal, and it doubles as the home of the group's in house roastery. The beans are roasted on the same site as the counter, so the coffee in your cup has travelled only a few steps from the machine that roasted it, and the smell of freshly ground coffee reaches you before the bar does.

The campus is full of studios, broadcasters and technology teams, and the bar fuels that creative crowd from seven thirty on weekdays and eight thirty at weekends, closing at five every day. It is the base of a small London group of neighbourhood cafes that also includes Angel, Baker Street, New Street and St Paul's, so a visit here is the best way to see where the whole operation starts.
