Redemption Roasters Covent Garden

Redemption Roasters' Drury Lane shop was its first in the West End, a short walk from the Covent Garden piazza and the theatres around it. The coffee is roasted by trainees in prison, sold under the Redemption name and served as espresso and filter, which gives a pre show flat white or a morning filter a purpose that is printed right on the bag.
The company began in 2016 when the Ministry of Justice approached Max Dubiel and Ted Rosner about installing a working roastery inside a prison, and the first roaster was built at HMYOI Aylesbury to train young people in custody as roasters and cuppers. The company describes itself as the world's first prison based coffee roaster, and in 2026 it received the King's Award for Enterprise for the model.
