Monmouth Coffee Company roasts its beans at Spa Terminus in Bermondsey, and the Dockley Road shop sits just across the road from the roastery, so the coffee goes from roaster to cup in about as few steps as any shop in London. It is a modern, airy space, a quieter counterpart to the queues at the Covent Garden and Borough Market shops.

The menu is short and traditional: filter coffee brewed through cones and espresso, made from direct sourced single origin beans, with whole bean bags on sale at the counter. It runs on a weekday and Saturday pattern, opening at eight, closing at three on weekdays and four on Saturday, so go in the morning if you want it at its calmest.
