Liten Coffee

The whitewashed Liten shopfront with its metal lettered sign, a window shelf of brewing gear and a green door open to a drinks fridge

Liten is Swedish for small, and the shop lives up to the name: a pocket sized corner of Fairhazel Gardens in South Hampstead, a short walk from Swiss Cottage. It is a quality led neighbourhood coffee shop where regulars are recognised, and one of them even gave the counter a custom Lego model of the shop to prove it.

The team drinks filter all day and sources beans with care, including lots linked to the Women in Coffee initiative, and they stock specialty beans for the home brewer alongside granola made in house. Through the year they host pavement gatherings called Liten Lates, and they have shown contemporary art on the shop exterior, giving local and international artists an unusual gallery.
