Kiss the Hippo

Can Eren, a manufacturing engineer by training, traveled to more than fifteen countries visiting farms, roasteries and shops before opening Kiss the Hippo's first site and roastery in Richmond in the summer of 2018. The company has since grown to more than ten London locations, this Cannon Street counter among them, all running off a single Loring Smart Roaster the brand markets for its low emissions, certified carbon negative by the Swiss nonprofit On A Mission.

George Street, a Colombia and Honduras blend built for milk drinks, anchors the espresso side, alongside a darker blend called The Donna and single origins grouped by house tasting categories that have included a Cup of Excellence natural Gesha from Panama's Finca Auromar. The company reports paying growers at least fifty percent above Fair Trade pricing and holds Soil Association organic certification, alongside partnerships with World Coffee Research and Kew Gardens' coffee research program.
