Iris and June

Jodie left a marketing career to train as a barista and opened Iris and June on Howick Place in Victoria in 2014. A decade on it is still independent and still tied to Ozone Coffee Roasters, whose wholesale partner it has been since day one. Empire Blend runs on espresso, and the filter list has long mixed Ozone single origins with guest roasters, brewed as V60, Aeropress or batch.

The room is a long wedge of black and white tiles, bare walls and wall to wall windows, with window bars, a padded bench and rows of tables, plus benches on the pavement outside. Brunch arrived in 2016 and brought in visitors from across London, but the coffee has stayed as serious as at any dedicated specialty shop. It trades on weekdays only, closing in the late afternoon.
