Good as Gold

Good as Gold is a specialty coffee shop on Mantle Road in Brockley, opened by Anthony Khouri and Tom Hibbert, formerly of The Gentlemen Baristas. It started as a residency in the Soho barbershop cafe Sharps and popped up on Windmill Street before the pair moved to south east London. The room is industrial and minimal, and it has become a fixture of the neighbourhood.
At the bar, fragrant filters from nearby roaster Plot appear regularly next to a tight list of espresso drinks. Evenings add a second side to the shop, with a dinner service on Thursdays and Fridays. Weekdays begin at half past seven and finish at half past four, and at weekends doors open at eight and close mid afternoon, so there is time to linger over a filter.
