EspressoBase

EspressoBase is one man, one La Marzocco and a courtyard. Gennaro trained as a barista in Italy and runs this Italian style espresso bar from the edge of St George's churchyard in Bloomsbury, two minutes from the British Museum, pulling every shot himself with no syrups or flavour shots. Sugar carries a small charge, a gentle nudge to taste the coffee first.
Beans rotate through single origins from roasters including The Naughty Dog, Notes and Coffee Collective, with a changing guest roaster, and home brewing kit is sold alongside. The setting is the draw: a bamboo path leads to a garden of wooden benches, plants and a small water feature, with jazz often playing quietly. Dogs and laptops are welcome, and the shop is wheelchair accessible. It opens Monday to Thursday only.
